How? Shoe rotation is the answer.
By allowing your shoes to aerate for 48-72 hours between runs, you
can extend the life of your shoes. The EVA (shoe foam) is absorbent
material, so when you run the EVA absorbs your sweat and any puddles
you may run in.
Here are some other reasons why shoe
rotation is important:
- When shoes break down is when injury is most likely
to occur because the shock absorption capability of the shoes
is diminished.
- The EVA is fully able to rebound, helping retain
the shoe shape.
- You can get the most mileage from your shoes.
With shoe rotation you can expect approximately
500 miles. Without rotation approximately 300-400 miles.
Important facts when rotating shoes:
- Do not place next to a heater. Extreme heat will
destroy the EVA.
- Take the insole out while ventilating.
- Leave in a place where there is airflow, not a
closet.
- Allow 48-72 hours between runs.
