SCIATICA/BACK PAIN
Signs and Symptoms
*Lower back pain accompanied by radiating leg pain below the knee.
Differential Diagnosis
*Piriformis syndrome - Posterior buttock pain. May be caused by leg length inequality.
*Mechanical lower back pain - May be caused by leg length inequality.
*Sprain/strains - due to trauma.
Etiology (Cause)
*Disc bulging causing pressure on nerve roots. May be sudden onset from a bending/twisting maneuver. May have past history of lower back pain that resolved.
Treatment
*Orthotics
*Physiotherapy therapy modalities (ice, massage, ultrasound).
*Manual therapy (motion release, foot, knee and pelvic adjustments).
*Lower back and abdominal strengthening.
